Gold Price Today in Chennai: 22 Carat Gold Jumps ₹9,520 Per Sovereign, Hits All-Time High

Gold prices in Chennai have surged uncontrollably, creating widespread concern among middle-class families. Once known for occasional spikes, gold prices are now witnessing sharp fluctuations every day, with rates changing between morning and afternoon sessions.

On the previous day, gold shocked buyers by recording the highest single-day rise in history. Prices increased by ₹370 per gram and ₹2,960 per sovereign in the morning, followed by another jump of ₹280 per gram and ₹2,240 per sovereign in the afternoon. In total, gold surged by ₹650 per gram and ₹5,200 per sovereign, closing at ₹15,610 per gram and ₹1,24,880 per sovereign.

The rally intensified today as 22-carat gold price in Chennai shot up by a massive ₹9,520 per sovereign in a single day. Gold is now being sold at ₹1,34,400 per sovereign and ₹16,800 per gram, marking a new all-time high.

Over the past 10 days alone, gold prices have climbed by ₹18,640 per sovereign, raising fears that gold may soon become unaffordable for many households.

Silver prices have also followed the upward trend. Today, silver rose by ₹25 per gram to reach ₹425 per gram, while silver bars are priced at ₹4.25 lakh.

Experts believe that although gold prices may remain volatile in the coming days, occasional corrections are possible. However, the current surge reflects strong global market pressure and growing investor demand for safe-haven assets.
